English Alive is looking to fill summer and full time positions effective immediately and for summer 2021.
About us
English Alive started here in San Sebastián in 2015. We define ourselves as a language community: more than focusing on exams and grammar, we focus on speaking and listening skills. The groups are small (3-4 people) so that gives us time to get to know people, identify their weaknesses, and help them improve. Outside of classes we do activities a few times a year. In the past they’ve included kayaking, surfing, and preparing a Thanksgiving feast.
The majority of our students are adults looking to improve their speaking skills for work and travel; however, we’ve expanded our offerings to teenagers (mostly in summer, a few groups during the school year) and exam prep.
The role
The positions are suited to someone wishing to continue their career in a creative, inclusive environment with varied teaching and an innovative method. Classes can be: in person or online; adults or teens; groups or one-to-one; in businesses or at the academy.
We rotate the available classes among teachers to ensure that the classes remain interesting for the student as well as the teacher, so we ask for full-time availability.
This is contract work with fixed monthly salary. Advancement opportunities are available as the business grows.
Requirements:
- Native English Speaker
- Intermediate Spanish skills
- 2 years experience teaching ESL
- Available to work daily on location in San Sebastián
- Experience with Cambridge exams is a plus. Flexible availability.
Available Positions
Full time teacher – Starting after Semana Santa we are looking for a full time teacher for our Gros and Lorea locations.
Summer teacher – mainly to work our teens’ courses in the month of July, but potentially to help with adults as well depending on demand. For info about our teens courses, check the course webpage.
