Today I'd like to introduce a project called StoryCorps, which invites all different kinds of Americans to tell their stories – some sad, some funny, but all very human.

1. Listen to a story

Here's an example with listening questions (after listening a few times, you can find the transcript here:

0:00 What was Hans' first experience with sharks?
0:59 Why did he decide to work at the New York aquarium?
1:08 What did Hans decide when he arrived?
1:48 What was Dee Snyder's comment and how did Hans correct him?
2:09 What was Hans' mom's advice? How does she feel about his career?
Bonus: Want to hear Hans' rock group? Check them out here.

2. Share a story

1. Find a story on the StoryCorps website that you like.
2. Email me the link to the story. We will listen to it in class and you will guide us through it. As always, ask your audience questions to see if they understand the story. If they don't, help them!
